Dear Parents,

We hope you enjoyed your week off with Halloween celebrations. This half term is a very busy one for us.

Firstly, after talking to the children we have decided our topic this half term will be based on THE MAGIC KEY and the adventures it will take us on, followed by 2 weeks focused activities on Christmas. The children had lots of fantastic ideas for this topic before we broke up so we are really looking forward to it.

Secondly, this is the half term where all the children in Early Years take part in the Christmas play. This is very exciting for us all and you will receive letters closer to the time regarding costumes and performance dates.

We give the children the option to play outdoors in EYFS every morning and every afternoon regardless of the weather, as the outdoor area provides a lot of essential opportunities for learning. Therefore, we would appreciate children wearing suitable outdoor coats with hoods for school. Hats, scarfs and gloves should be worn when it is really cold and a NAMED PAIR OF WELLIES should be left in school at all times for when it is wet outdoors. We don’t stop children playing outside in the wet weather, instead we dress them in a wetsuit and wellies so as not to hinder their outdoor experiences.

This half term the children will be excited to get their new reading folders. We would like you to read the picture book inside the folder to your child and encourage him/her to talk about the pictures. Please read 4 times or more each week. Children who do this receive weekly prizes and have made good progress with both their phonics and reading. Picture books will be changed at least twice a week and the children choose the books themselves. On Thursday’s we will send home a Story Sack or a Phonics Pack with books/games for you to enjoy with your child. Story Sacks and Phonics Packs MUST be returned to school on Monday mornings. It is imperative that you return the sack with all the contents as shown on the photo attached to the bag.

We thank you for supporting your child in their learning.
